C.M. Perks completed her PhD studies at the University of Bristol in 1995. She then served as a postdoctoral research scientist at the Royal Veterinary College, University of London, before joining the University of Bristol as a research associate in the Department of Surgery. She is currently an associate professor in tumour cell biology and leads the cancer endocrinology group at Bristol Medical School based at Southmead Hospital. Her primary interests are in the role of the IGF axis in relation to epithelial cancers, including breast, prostate, and colorectal, and she is particularly interested in the interactions of key dietary factors with the IGF axis and how this may influence cancer progression. She has 121 publications with 3570 citations and an h-index of 36 (Scopus, 7 December 2023).
