Dr. Julia Higuchi graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the Medical University of Warsaw in the field of dental materials in 2011 and the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering of the Warsaw University of Technology in the field of biomaterials in 2014. She obtained an MBA at IPI PAS (Poland)/Woodbury School of Business, Utah Valley University (USA) in 2019 and a Ph.D. in Materials Science in 2021 at Warsaw University of Technology. In 2015, she became the founding member of the Polish Nanomedicine Association. Currently, she is an assistant professor at the Institute of High-Pressure Physics PAS. Her research work mainly focuses on the surface modifications of metallic, ceramic and polymeric implants with bioactive nanoparticles by ultrasonic coating and fabrication and preclinical studies of fibrous polymer implants for maxillofacial and oral surgery and implantology.
Agnieszka Michalak is an associate professor in the Faculty of Biomedicine, Medical University of Lublin, Lublin, Poland. She earned her master's and doctorate at the Medical University of Lublin in 2012 and 2017, respectively. She received a Travel Grant Award from the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies. She is a member of the Polish Pharmacological Society and is on the Audit Committee of the Polish Zebrafish Society. Her recent scientific interests are focused on using zebrafish as a toxicological and behavioral model in preclinical studies, as well as on the importance of the MEK/ERK pathway and neuropeptide Y in neurological diseases.
Marta Tarczynska graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Lublin. She is the fifth woman in more than a thousand-year history of Polish female orthopedics with a Ph.D. She is the co-owner of the Centre for Orthopaedics and Traumatology Arthros in Nałęczów. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopaedics, and the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of the Medical University of Lublin. She has years of professional experience in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and musculoskeletal injuries in children and adults. She is a specialist in children’s hip ultrasound, axis and postural deformities and is a prominent specialist in orthopedic shoulder, hand, knee and foot surgical care.
Krzysztof Gaweda is the head of and an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology, Medical University of Lublin, Lublin, Poland. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Medical University of Lublin. He is the president of the Centre for Orthopaedics and Traumatology Arthros in Nałęczów. He is the pioneer of the knee prosthesoplasty/knee-replacement procedure in the Lubelskie District and introduced many new surgical techniques now commonly used in Lublin’s orthopedic school. He is the author and coauthor of 73 scientific papers published in Polish and foreign journals as well as 79 papers and reports in national and foreign scientific congresses.
Katarzyna Klimek is currently an associate professor in the Chair and Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Medical University of Lublin. She has been a research assistant in the Chair and Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Medical University of Lublin, since 2013. She received a Ph.D. degree in 2017. Her research interests include biomaterials, cell–biomaterial interactions, biocompatibility, cytotoxicity, bone scaffolds, cartilage scaffolds, wound dressings, polymers, tissue engineering as well as regenerative medicine. In addition, she assesses the cytocompatibility of natural and synthetic substances for biomedical applications.
