Edoardo Villani, MD, is an assistant professor in ophthalmology at the Department of Clinical Sciences and Community Health of the University of Milan and he is an attending physician at the San Giuseppe Hospital Eye Clinic, where he is in charge of the Ocular Surface Service. He graduated from the University of Milan School of Medicine in 2005, where he completed his ophthalmology residency in 2008. He has 82 scientific international papers with an h index factor of 29 and more than 3500 citations of his work (Scopus, 21 December 2023).
Stefano Barabino is a Professor of Ophthalmology and Head of the Ocular Surface Center at the Sacco Hospital, Milan University, Italy. He received his medical degree from Genoa University in 1998, completed his residency in Ophthalmology in 2002, and received his Ph.D. degree in Immunology in 2005. Dr. Barabino completed a two-year fellowship at Harvard University, in Boston, USA. He is an active member of several European and international professional societies, President of the Italian Society of Ocular Surface, and a board member of Ocular Immunology & Inflammation, Eye & Contact Lens, The Ocular Surface, and BMC Ophthalmology. Dr. Barabino has been an active member of the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS) since its inception in 2000. As a specialist in dry eye and ocular surface diseases, he has 80 scientific international papers with an h index factor of 29 and more than 3000 citations of his work (Scopus, 21 December 2023).
