Petros Ioannou has been an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the School of Medicine, University of Crete, Greece, since 2022. He was a post-doctoral researcher in Internal Medicine from February 2020 to November 2020 and an Infectious Diseases Fellow from 2020 to 2022 at the University Hospital of Heraklion, Greece. He received a PhD in Infectious Diseases/Microbiology (Medicine) at the University of Crete-Voutes Campus, Greece, from 2014 to 2017. His research interests include microbiology, infectious diseases, internal medicine, HIV, and AIDS.
Stella Baliou is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Crete. Dr. Baliou obtained her bachelor's degree of Science in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology and a master’s degree in the Molecular Basis of Human Diseases from the University of Crete. She obtained her Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics from Democritus University of Thrace. Dr. Baliou previously worked at BSCR Alexander Fleming and the National Hellenic Research Foundation.
George Samonis, MD, PhD, is a Medical Oncologist and Infectious Diseases Specialist and Emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Crete (UC), Greece. He was trained at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He served the UC as Head of the Department of Medicine, where he established an experimental lab. Currently, he is a Senior Oncologist at the Metropolitan Hospital of N. Faliron, Athens, Greece. He has published more than 500 papers (Google Scholar), and his work has attracted 19,000 citations. His h-index is 70.
