Dr. Georgios K. Markantes graduated from the School of Health Sciences at the University of Patras, Greece. He received training in Internal Medicine at the General Hospital of Kefalonia, Greece, and at the Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, UK. He is currently a trainee in Endocrinology & Diabetes at the University Hospital of Patras, Greece. Since 2008, he has been part of the research team of the Division of Endocrinology of the University Hospital of Patras. In 2013, he completed his Doctorate of Philosophy, and from 2020, he has been working as a postdoctoral researcher in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Patras. As a result of his research activity, Dr. Markantes has given several presentations in international and domestic congresses, and has co-authored several papers published in esteemed scientific journals. In 2021, he received the Young Investigator Award of the European Society of Endocrinology. In 2016, 2020, and 2022 he received awards from the Hellenic Endocrine Society for his participation in exceptional publications in the field of Endocrinology. Since 2016, he has been a teaching assistant in the undergraduate course in Reproductive Endocrinology of the University of Patras Department of Medicine. Dr. Markantes is a member of the European Society of Endocrinology and of the Hellenic Endocrine Society. Dr. Markantes's research keywords include endocrinology and reproduction.
Marina A. Michalaki is an accomplished endocrinologist, currently serving as an assistant professor of endocrinology at the University of Patras, School of Medical Sciences, in Greece. She earned both her Master's and Doctorate degrees from the University of Patras and successfully completed her Post-Doctorate at the Catholic University of Leuven. Dedicated to advancing the field of endocrinology, Dr. Michalaki has been an active member of the Hellenic Endocrine Society since 2001, the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) since 2018, and the European Thyroid Association since 2018. Recognized for her outstanding contributions, she received the prestigious Koutras Award from the Hellenic Endocrine Society in 2012, 2014, and 2020. Dr. Michalaki's expertise lie in clinical thyroidology.
