Tanya Topouzova-Hristova is an Associate Professor at the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology, Faculty of Biology, Sofia University. She completed her Master’s in Biology with a specialization in Cell and Developmental biology at the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski, in 1993. She received her PhD in Cell Biology from the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University St Kliment Ohridski in 2008. She was Senior Assistant Professor at the Chair of Cytology, Histology, and Embryology, Faculty of Biology, Sofia University, from 2004 to 2014. She is the Director of the Master's Program in Cell Biology and Pathology and Head of the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology.

Tsvetelina Paunova-Krasteva is an Associate Professor at the Department of General Microbiology and a research assistant at Stephan Angeloff Institute of Microbiology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. She received her Ph.D. at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Her research areas include fine structures of pathogenic and non-pathogenic microbial species, cytochemical and immunocytochemical localization of enzymes and biopolymers, changes in ultrastructural and cytochemical characteristics due to culture regimes, including immobilization on various matrices and nanomaterials and under the action of biosurfactants, signal molecules and physicochemical factors, cell-to-cell antigen variations, and biofilm structure and activation or inhibition of biofilm growth.
