Dr. Elena Bandieri is a medical oncologist, the head of the outpatient early palliative care unit at AUSL Modena, and a Professor of early palliative care and cancer pain management in the Specialty Schools of Pharmacology and Medical Oncology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Modena Italy and a Past Research Associate in CEeVEAS, Modena (WHO Collaborative Center). Her research interests include early palliative care for patients with solid cancers and hematologic malignancies and their caregivers and cancer pain therapy.
Dr. Eleonora Borelli is a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, where she got her Ph.D. in Neuroscience at the Department of Biomedical, Metabolic, and Neural Sciences with thesis title: Behavioral and neural correlates of pain-related language. She worked at the Institute of Clinical Psychology—Friedrich-Schiller-Universität as a visiting post-doctoral fellow, in 2018.
Dr. Sarah Bigi received her Ph.D. in Linguistics from the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milano. Since 2008, she has conducted research on doctor-patient dialogues in different clinical settings, mainly in the field of chronic care. Her main research is concerned with the analysis of the structure and functions of argumentative discourse within medical consultations. In this area, she has analyzed the argument from authority and different argument types used by doctors. Her most recent research analyses are consulted as activity types, identifying and describing the various discourse types that contribute to their development. She is the Co-Chair of pEACH, a committee within the EACH-International Association for Communication in Healthcare, aimed at favoring the translation of knowledge on quality communication in healthcare from academia to practice and policy. She is a Guest Editor of the ‘Position Papers Series’ in the journal Patient Education and Counseling.
Dr. Claudia Mucciarini is the head of the "Oncological Internal Medicine Northern Area". She graduated from the University of Bologna in 2000, obtaining the qualification to practice medicine the following year and in 2004, specializing in Medical Oncology at Unimore. Her research interests include Colorectal Cancer, Gastrointestinal Cancer, Urologic Neoplasms, Prostate Cancer, Renal Cancer, Urinary Bladder Cancer, and Testicular Neoplasms.
Prof. Dr. Mario Luppi is a full professor of Hematology at the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia and Directory of the Division of Hematology Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria Modena. He got a Ph.D. in Experimental Hematology and a Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Society of Hematology (SIE) and the Medical-Scientific Advisory Body of the Carabinieri.
Prof. Dr. Leonardo Potenza is an Associate Professor at the Department of Maternal, Child, and Adult Medical and Surgical Sciences at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. He got a Master's in "Palliative Care and Pain Therapy: Multidisciplinarity and Continuity Care in Onco-Hematology", and a Ph.D. in Molecular and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.
