Dr. María Teresa Gómez-Casares is a doctor at the Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín. She graduated in Medicine from the University of Cantabria. She completed a specialty in Hematology and Hemotherapy at the Marqués de Valdecilla University Hospital, and is a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cantabria. In 1992 she joined the Hematology Service of the Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín where she is Head of Department as well as Head of the Molecular Biology Section. She has participated as principal investigator and collaborated on various funded research projects related to myelopoiesis, myeloid differentiation, and minimal residual disease. Currently, her research activity focuses on the study of molecular markers in myeloid neoplasms and their possible prognostic role. She is the author of various international publications about her research and clinical activity. She is the principal investigator of several clinical trials related to CML and Ph-negative NMPs, and is the principal researcher of the LMC Canary Registry. She is a founding member of the Spanish Group of Molecular Biology in Hematology and current president of the same, a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Group of LMC, and a member of GEMFIN.
