In 2012, she received her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry, working on the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds as protein kinase inhibitors. Her field of interest focuses on the design and synthesis of small molecules that are potentially active as anticancer or antiviral agents. In her career, she spent several months as a visiting researcher at the National University of Ireland in Galway and the University of Nottingham. She is the author of more than 40 publications in international journals and a patent, and she has presented several posters and oral communications to congresses. In 2018, she obtained the National Scientific Habilitation as Associate Professor in Medicinal Chemistry.
Prof. Dr. Anna Carbone is an associate professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Genoa. She graduated in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology with honors in 2000, and she got her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry in 2003 at the University of Messina. From 2004 to 2017, she was an assistant professor at the University of Palermo. She spent two years (2010–2012) as a Marie Curie Fellow in the School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. She gained remarkable expertise in the design, synthesis, biological evaluation, and SAR studies of heterocyclic compounds endowed with different biological activities. She has 76 publications with 2806 citations and an h-index of 36 (Scopus, 25 December 2023).
Prof. Dr. Silvia Schenone received her B.A. degree in Medicinal Chemistry in 1987 and in Pharmacy in 1988, both from the University of Genoa, Italy. In 1991, she obtained her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the same university. Since 2016, she has been a Professor of Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Pharmacy, University of Genoa, and was made head of the department in 2018. She is the author of about 180 articles and several patents in the field of medicinal chemistry. Her scientific activity is focused on molecular modeling studies and synthesis of small heterocyclic compounds endowed with biological activity, particularly kinase inhibitors active as anticancer agents. She also has expertise in the field of drug metabolism and bioavailability, pharmaceutical formulations and drug administration systems.
