Narcis Gusi Fuertes completed a doctorate (PhD) in Physiological Adaptations to Exercise (Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, INEFC, Universitat de Barcelona), an MSc in Health Economics and Pharmacology in 2007 from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra Departament d'Economia i Empresa, an MSc in Sports Psychology in 1993 from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Statistics in 1992 from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He is a full professor (Catedrático) at the Universidad de Extremadura. He has published 166 articles in journals (hindex WOS 29, Scopus 30) and supervised 16 PhD theses. He held a position on the EU Health Enhancing Physical Activity Network steering committee associated with the World Health Organization (WHO) and is now a fellow; he has also been a consultant for WHO. He also participates in the EuroQol Research Foundation (development of health-related quality of life questionnaires and their economic valuation), Centre for Excellence of Research in Aging and Frailty (CIBER) in Spain, and Exernet (Spanish Exercise in Special Populations Network). His main current research areas are on the cost effectiveness of physical activity/physical therapy innovations and their effects on neuromotor and neuro-brain aging and health-related quality of life.
