Prof. Dr. Domenico Galzerano, FESC, FEACVI has been a Professor
of Medicine at the College of Medicine, Alfaisal University, Riyadh, KSA, from
October 2016 up to present and a Consultant in Cardiology, Cardiac Imaging at The
Heart Centre, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Riyadh, KSA
from September 2015 until now: He is a clinical and academic cardiologist with
international experience in cardiovascular medicine and cardiac imaging;
Multimodality and interventional imager with extensive experience in
echocardiography in clinical and research arena including support for
structural heart interventions. He started to be involved in 3D
echocardiography in 1995 in Boston, at Tufts University. He is also experienced
in CT and MRI, being involved in adult and adult congenital multimodality
imaging at KFSH&RC. He has been Editor in Chief, Monaldi Archives for Chest disease,
Italy, since February 2021. He has 85 publications with 1395 citations and an h-index
of 17 (Scopus, 6 November 2023).
Prof. Giovanni Di Salvo qualified in
Italy in 1996, going on to obtain his certificate of perfection in Medical
Emergencies and to specialise in cardiology. He gained his Master’s degree in
Medical Imaging in 2002 at the Katholieke University of Leuven, Belgium, and
his Ph.D. in cardio-respiratory physiopathology and associated biotechnologies in
2004. He has worked across the globe in a variety of institutions, including
Naples and Saudi Arabia, before joining the Trust in 2016 as a lead consultant
in paediatric echocardiography. In July 2017, he became the lead for paediatric
cardiology research at the Royal Brompton Hospital, and in October 2016 became an
honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College, London. He has 298 publications
with 7049 citations and an h-index of 45 (Scopus, 6 November 2023).
Zohair Y. Al-Halees, a senior cardiac surgeon at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFSHRC) in Riyadh, was recently elected president of the World Society for Pediatric and Congenital Heart Surgery (WSPCHS). He joined the King Saud Medical School in Riyadh and was among the first batch of doctors to graduate in 1977. He was appointed a surgical resident at the KFSHRC, from where he was sent on a scholarship to the US and Canada. He then spent a year of fellowship in pediatric and congenital cardiac surgery in Denver in the US. He returned to Saudi Arabia in 1985 and joined the staff at the KFSHRC, where he continues to work. He has performed operations in many countries, helping and educating local teams in many cardiac surgical procedures, some of which he either developed or refined. Al-Halees is frequently invited to lecture at many local and international meetings. He has delivered some 500 presentations and lectures and has published 421 articles and book chapters, as well as 145 abstracts.
