Foteini Christidi (MSc, Ph.D.) is currently working as a Post Doctoral Researcher at the School of Medicine, Democritus University of Thrace, Alexandroupolis, Greece and is a scientific collaborator at the School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Dr. Dimitrios Tsiptsios graduated from the American College of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1996. He gained his degree in medicine from the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2004
and completed his Ph.D. thesis at the same institute on the topic 0f “Pupillometry in Myasthenia Gravis” in 2008. From 2008 to 2010, he specialized in the field of Epilepsies and Clinical Neurophysiology at
St. Thomas' Hospital, London, UK, under the guidance of Prof. Koutroumanidis and Prof. Panayiotopoulos. He trained in neurology at Papageorgiou General Hospital, Thessaloniki, Greece, and became a Neurology Specialist in 2014. He concluded the “Sleep Medicine MSc” held by Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, in 2017. From 2014 to 2020, he worked as a Consultant Clinical Neurophysiologist at South Tyneside & Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. From 2021 to 2023, he served as a Clinical Lead Investigator in an EU-funded project dealing with "Biomarkers in Stroke" that took place at the Neurology Department of Democritus University of Thrace, Greece. He was recently appointed as
an Assistant Professor of Neurology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.
Efstratios Karavasilis is an Assistant Professor of Medical Physics at the School of Medicine, Democritus University of Thrace. He received a Bachelor's degree in Physics at the University of Ioannina in 2005, a Master's degree in Health/Medical Physics in 2008 and a Ph.D. in Health/Medical Physics at Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon in 2016.
Anna Tsiakiri received her degree in Psychology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2004 and continued her Ph.D. studies in the Department of Medicine at the Democritus University of Thrace, which she obtained in 2012. She then carried out her postdoctoral research in the same department with funding from the State Scholarship Foundation (IKY). She is continuing her postdoctoral research in the field of
stroke. At the same time, she has completed her training at the Systemic Institute of Thessaloniki. She has clinical experience as a psychologist and neuropsychologist and teaching experience as an academic scholar at the Democritus University of Thrace in undergraduate and postgraduate courses as a
scientific associate at the ASPAITE faculty as well as at the Scientific College of Greece. Her main research focus is on studies of neuropsychological functions in neurological diseases. She is a founding member of the Hellenic Alliance for Stroke and a national representative in the Stroke Alliance for Europe, as well as a member of the Hellenic Neuropsychological Society.
Aspasia Serdari is an Associate Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Democritus University of Thrace and Director of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University Hospital of Alexandroupolis. She has a Medical Diploma from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed her Ph.D. in Child Psychiatry at the Medical School of Democritus University. As Head of the multidisciplinary team of the Department, she collaborates with other social services, the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education for the management of children and adolescents with special educational needs, and forensic child psychiatry services, as well. Her research focuses on neurodevelopmental disorders, behavioral problems in children with epilepsy, school bullying, assistive technology in education, and mental health stigma in childhood. She has published her work in original research articles and book
chapters, and she is a reviewer in research papers in international journals.
Nikolaos Aggelousis holds the position of Professor of Biomechanics in the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science at the Democritus University of Thrace, Komotini, Greece. He obtained his Ph.D. in biomechanics and motor control in 1996. His research primarily focuses on understanding how human movement emerges from the interaction between the nervous and the musculoskeletal systems in both healthy individuals and patients with neurological diseases (Parkinson’s disease, stroke, cerebral palsy and dementia).
Konstantinos Vadikolias (MD, Ph.D.) is currently working at the Democritus University of Thrace, Neurology Department. Vadikolias has 172 publications with 3000 citations (ResearchGate, 20 December). Vadikolias's skills and expertise include stroke and neurological and cerebral ischemia, and their research field is focused on transcranial Doppler ultrasonography, modified Rankin scale, acute stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, ischemic stroke, stroke (engine), confidence intervals, odds ratios, incidence (geometry), and cardiology.
