Prof. Dr. Dirk Weuster-Botz is a full professor of biochemical engineering at the Technical University of Munich. He received his degree in chemical engineering in 1986 at the University of Karlsruhe (Germany). After his doctoral work at the Institute of Biotechnology of the Research Center Jülich in Germany, he earned his doctoral degree in 1991. Afterward, he established his research group on fermentation science there and earned his postdoctoral lecture qualification (habilitation) in 1999 at the Technical University of Aachen (RWTH). Since 2011, he has been chairman of the master’s program ‘Industrial Biotechnology’ and has been a member of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) since 2012.
