Author Biographies

Virginia Kiryakova, D.Sc., Ph.D., is a Bulgarian mathematician known for her works on fractional calculus, special functions and integral transforms, and on the history of fractional calculus. She is a full professor at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IMI-BAS), and is currently a professor emeritus. She completed her B.Sc. and M.Sc. at Sofia University, and her D.Sc. thesis at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia. Editor-in-Chief of "Fractional Calculus and Applied Analysis"(Springer). She is the author of the monograph “Generalized Fractional Calculus and Applications” (Longman-J. Wiley, 1994) and of over 130 scientific surveys and papers cited by others more than 6800 times. In recent years, she has been included in the list of the top 2% of scientists worldwide according to the Standford University ranking. Her recent studies are summarized in the review paper “A Guide to Special Functions in Fractional Calculus” in this journal (Mathematics 2021, v. 9) and received the “2021 Best paper Award” from MDPI. She has had many years of work and organization experience as a member of the Executive Body of the National Science Fund, of the General Assembly of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Scientific Councils, Editorial Boards, etc. She has been awarded several academic prizes including a Medal with Ribbon by IMI-BAS for her contributions to the development of mathematics and informatics in Bulgaria.
Jordanka Paneva-Konovska, D.Sc., Ph.D., is a full professor at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Her fields of interest are: special functions, series in special functions and convergence, complex analysis, integral transforms and fractional calculus. She is an author of more than 80 scientific articles, surveys and monographs on the mentioned research topics and an advisor of one PhD Thesis. She is a member of the editorial boards of the specialized international journals "Fractional Calculus and Applied Analysis" (Springer, at top positions of Web of Sciences rank list) and the "International Journal of Applied Mathematics", and of the organizing committees of a number of international conferences. She is also a reviewer of several specialized international journals and conferences in the area of special functions theory, fractional calculus and applications. She has many years of experience as a lecturer at the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics, Technical University of Sofia. She is a member of the Bulgarian Mathematical Union and Union of Scientists in Bulgaria.
