Antoni Sánchez Ortiz has been an Adjunct Professor at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili since 2017. He majored in analytical chemistry at the University of Barcelona after working in the corrosion of automobile engines and intercoolers using the Swaat Technique, at Frape Behr Group. He developed a GC-MS (gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy) method at Henkel Düsseldorf chemical plant in Germany. It was there that he took a course in wine tasting and began his interest in the discovery of quality wines. Consequently, he fell in love with fine wines. In the following years, after studying enology at the University of Tarragona and the University of Victor Segalen in Bordeaux (France) at the Faculty of Oenology, he graduated as a winemaker at 23 years of age. For 17 years now, he has worked full time within the demanding context of producing world-class wines, both as a winemaker and as a viticulturist in the renowned AOC Priorat, Spain, to make wine from Grenache, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvigon, Macabeo and Sauvignon blanc, with the achievement of the best rated red wine in Tarragona AOC in 2011. He is known for obtaining outstanding fine wines with a unique personality in the Priorat area. He joined Perinet Winery in 2015 and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy, PhD, in Chemical Engineering at Rovira i Virgili University from 2019 to 2021.
Miriam Lampreave Figueras is a Collaborating Professor at the Biochemistry and Biotechnology department at Rovira i Virgili University. She obtained a PhD in Oenology at Rovira i Virgili University in 2002, focusing on irrigation techniques in the local grape Tempranillo. She specialised as an Agricultural Technical Engineer in Food Industries Specialty at the University of Barcelona and became an Agricultural Engineer at the University of Lleida.
