Alberto Testolin received an M.Sc. degree in Computer Science (2011) and a Ph.D. degree in Cognitive Science (2015) from the University of Padua (IT). He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Padua, with a joint appointment at the Department of General Psychology and the Department of Mathematics. He is broadly interested in artificial intelligence, cognitive science and computational neuroscience. In the AI field, his research covers the theoretical and technological aspects of neural networks, with a particular focus on deep learning and the integration between statistical learning and symbolic reasoning. He also applies machine learning to signal processing, data analysis, and system optimization. In the CS and CN fields, his interdisciplinary research approach investigates the domains of visual perception, orthographic processing, sequence learning, language acquisition, visuospatial attention, predictive coding, cognitive development, and mathematical learning using computer simulations based on artificial neural networks.
