Edward John Despott is a consultant gastroenterologist and interventional endoscopist based in London, practising privately at The Wellington Hospital and the Royal Free Hospital. He is the clinical lead of endoscopy services at the Royal Free Hospital’s Unit for Endoscopy, where he also proudly works for the NHS. He graduated from the University of Malta in 1999 and completed his general professional training there, and then he moved to the UK to pursue higher specialist training in gastroenterology and general (internal) medicine within the North East Thames rotation of the London Deanery School of Medicine. He also undertook advanced endoscopy training at the Wolfson Unit for Endoscopy at St Mark’s Hospital and Academic Institute and partook in formal research at Imperial College London, achieving a further doctorate in medical research (MD(Res), a PhD equivalent). He is an active member of groups including the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG); the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE), where he is on the guidelines committee for small bowel endoscopy; and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He is the senior associate editor of VideoGIE, an official journal of ASGE. He has national and international experience in lecturing, training courses and holding masterclasses; as well as performing live endoscopy demonstrations, and he has undertaken travelling fellowships in Japan for the Japanese GI Endoscopy Society (JGES) and BSG.

Giuseppe Kito Fusai qualified with honours in 1987 from the University of Milan, Italy. He began his training in general surgery in Italy, and in 1992, he was awarded a master of surgery from the University of Parma. He moved to the UK in 1995, and in 1996, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He specialized in hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery and liver transplant, and since 1999, he has worked in several centres of excellence in the UK and abroad, including Nagoya University Hospital in Japan, which is well known for the treatment of cholangiocarcinoma. He is a consultant surgeon in the liver unit at the Royal Free Hospital and a Professor of Surgery at University College London.

Andrea Anderloni is the Director of the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Unit, Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1998, specialised in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy in 2002, and completed his training with a Doctorate in Gastroenterology in 2005. Furthermore, he received a Level II Master’s degree in Diagnostic and Operative Echendoscopy in 2011 from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. He has been the Director of Biliopancreatic Endoscopy at the IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital (2013–2022) and a medical doctor at Azienda Ospedaliero Universitaria “Maggiore della Carita” (2010–2013).

Martyn Caplin is a professor of gastroenterology and GI neuroendocrinology at the Royal Free Hospital and University College London. He leads the Royal Free ENETS Centre of Excellence, including research programmes into neuroendocrine tumours. He was a founder member of ENETS in 2004 and elected chairman from 2014–2016, now serving on its advisory board. He is the founder and past chairman of the UK & Ireland Neuroendocrine Tumour Society and received a lifetime achievement award from UKI NETS. He is past chairman of the National Cancer Research Institute NET group and is currently chairman of the European Union Reference Network for the Rare Cancers Neuroendocrine Tumour Group. He is a patron of the NET Patient Foundation and has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers, written multiple book chapters, and co-authored two books.
Christos Toumpanakis is a Consultant in Gastroenterology and Neuroendocrine Tumours at the Centre for Gastroenterology and Neuroendocrine Tumour Unit—ENETS Centre of Excellence at the Royal Free Hospital, London. He is a professor at the medical school of University College London and has been awarded ‘top-teacher of the year’ several times. He graduated from the Medical School, University of Athens, in 1994, obtaining his speciality title in gastroenterology and hepatology in 2004, and achieved his PhD at the University of Athens in 2007. His sub-speciality is ‘Neuroendocrine (Carcinoid) Tumours (NETs)’ and he is considered one of the international experts in that field. He has significant clinical experience in all types of gastro-entero-pancreatic tumours, as well as bronchial NETs, and all available treatment options. His main interests, apart from general gastroenterology and endoscopy, include gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, celiac disease, chronic diarrhoea, inflammatory bowel disease and gastro-intestinal problems in patients with congenital immuno-deficiencies. He is the chair of the advisory board of the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (ENETS), the editor of the ENETS CME program, and the co-author of the ENETS, UK and Ireland NET Guidelines. He leads a NET clinical research group and his main research interests include novel biomarkers and molecular imaging in NETs, mesenteric fibrosis and carcinoid heart disease.
