Heliot Zarza completed his Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Master’s degree in Biological Sciences, and Doctorate in Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Over the last 25 years, his projects have focused on managing and conserving wild mammals, with more than 15 years of experience studying jaguar ecology. He has more than 10 years of teaching experience at UNAM and UAM. He is Vice President of National Allianza for jaguar conservation. He belongs to the National System of Researchers Level I. He is a full-time professor at Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM Unidad Lerma). His lines of research focus on conservation biology, mammal ecology, landscape ecology, and disease ecology.

Ricardo López-Wilchis is a Ph.D. at the Biology Department, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana -Unidad Iztapalapa, Mexico. He completed his Ph.D. studies in Biology at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Ciudad Universitaria, Distrito Federal, Mexico. His research is primarily multidisciplinary, combining aspects of evolutionary patterns, reproduction, trophic ecology, population ecology, phylogeography, and molecular ecology with particular emphasis on Mexican mammals, especially bats. Recently, his studies have been focused on Mormoopidae bats.
