Dr. Petr Musilek received an Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering (1991) and a Ph.D. degree in Technical Cybernetics (1995) from the Military Technical Academy in Brno, Czech Republic. In 1997, he was awarded a NATO Science Fellowship, and tenured at the Intelligent Systems Research Laboratory, University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Since 1999, he has been with the University of Alberta, where he is presently a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and an Associate Dean (Research Operations) with the Faculty of Engineering. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta and a Senior Member of IEEE. His research focuses on the use of machine learning to support the design and operation of future electric power grids.
Dr. Marek Z. Reformat currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alberta. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Manitoba in 1997 and obtained his Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Poznan in 1988. His research interests include computational intelligence, knowledge engineering and software engineering.
