João Carlos Gonçalves Lanzinha completed his PhD in Civil Engineering in 2006 at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), his master's in Civil Engineering in 1998 within the Faculty of Sciences and Technology at the University of Coimbra (FCTUC), and his bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering in 1983 within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto  (FEUP). He is an associate professor at the Department of Civil Engineering and Architectures, Faculty of Engineering, University of Beira Interior (UBI), Portugal. He works in the areas of engineering and technology with an emphasis on civil engineering, engineering, and technology with an emphasis on civil engineering, construction engineering, and architecture engineering. His research interests include building inspection/retrofitting/rehabilitation, quality assessment of buildings, energy efficiency and sustainability in buildings, and housing and health.
Andrea Parisi Kern is a professor at the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos in the Postgraduate Program in Civil Engineering. She holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos (1995) and a master’s degree (1999) and a doctorate (2005) in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. She has experience in civil engineering, with an emphasis on construction management and economics, working mainly on the following topics: civil construction, construction management, waste management, and sustainability in construction.
