Barouch Giechaskiel graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece) in 2000 and was awarded his Ph.D. by the same university in 2005. He was a research fellow at the European Commission—DG Joint Research Centre (JRC), Institute for Environment and Sustainability, in Ispra (Italy) until 2009. From 2009 to 2013, he was employed by AVL Graz (Austria) as an application engineer for AVL’s Particle Number Counter. From 2014 to 2019, he was the scientific laboratory manager of the Vehicle Emission Laboratories of the JRC of the European Commission in Italy. Currently, he contributes to projects such as RDE (Real Driving Emissions), PMP (Particle Measurement Programme), PEMS (Portable Emissions Measurement Systems), and non-exhaust emissions. He is chairing the UNECE PMP group since 2021.
Dr. Theodoros Grigoratos currently serves as a scientific officer at the European Commission, Joint Research Centre (JRC), Italy. He received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Chemistry from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2002 and 2006, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Chemistry from the same university in 2012. He has worked for the European Commission since 2013. His research interests include non-exhaust particle emissions, brake wear emissions, microplastic tire emissions, traffic-related air pollution, and GHG emissions.
Marcel Mathissen received his diploma in physics at the RWTH Aachen (Germany) in 2008. In 2012, he completed his dissertation (physical chemistry) at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal (Germany) with the highest honors. Since then, he has been working as a research scientist at the Ford Research & Innovation Center in Aachen, Germany. His research interest is environmental science with a focus on non-exhaust emissions (tire wear, road wear, brake wear and resuspension of road dust). He has authored 13 research papers and holds 20 patents. He serves as a reviewer for several international journals and worked as an expert for the European Commission.
Joris Quik is a Researcher at the Centre for Sustainability, Environment and Health (DMG) of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). He authored/co-authored 32 publications with 2644 citations and an h-index of 22 (Scopus, December 2023). His research interests focus on environmental fate, exposure modelling, sustainability, nanomaterials, etc.
Mats Gustafsson is currently a Senior Researcher at the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute. He authored/co-authored 45 publications with 2058 citations and an h-index of 22 (Scopus, December 2023). He does research in transport and air quality, with a main focus on non-exhaust particles.
Vicente Franco is a researcher with the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT, an independent, non-profit research organization with expertise in light- and heavy-duty vehicles, transportation fuels, shipping, aviation, climate science, and public health). He has authored/co-authored 19 publications with 1472 citations and an h-index of 12 (Scopus, December 2023). He specializes in light- and heavy-duty vehicle emissions.
Panagiota Dilara joined the European Commission in 2001 and has been a Senior Expert since October 2023. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. She has authored/co-authored 41 publications with 2313 citations and an h-index of 25 (Scopus, December 2023).
