Anil Kumar works in the area of
microbiota and cancer biology. He received his M.Sc. (Biotechnology) at the Indian
Institute of Technology, Roorkee, and his Ph.D. at the Institute of Genomics and
Integrative Biology (CSIR), New Delhi. He is currently a Staff Scientist at the
National Institute of Immunology (NII). His research interests are the microbiome
and human cancer. His laboratory aims to delineate this complex interaction
among microbiota, bacterial infections, inflammation and carcinogenesis. He
also plans to explore the role of bacteria and microbiota and their metabolites in
enhancing cancer immunotherapy. He was awarded the CSIR Technology Award in
2012, the Merck Millipore India Innovation Award in 2012, the ‘Young Scientist
Award’ from IUBMB in 2006, and the ‘Young Investigator Award’ from HUPO in
2004.
Madhuri Girdhar is an Assistant Professor (Molecular Biology
and Genetic Engineering) at Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab,
India. She graduated from DAV Public School, Fatehabad (Haryana) and Lovely
Professional University. Her skills and expertise are in phytoremediation,
heavy metal pollution, nanotechnology, polymer science, nanocomposites, heavy
metals, and biotechnology.
