Prof. Dr. Andrej Thurzo, PhD, MPH, MHA, is an Associate Professor and head of Department of Orthodontics, Regenenerative and Forensic Dentistry at the Faculty of Medicine at Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. He is a forensic expert in the field of dentistry.
His educational background includes graduating (MD) with a specialization in dentistry from Comenius University in 2000–2006; his first appointment in stomatology from 2006–2009; his PhD in implementation of digital systems in orthodontics from 2006 to 2010; his second appointment in orthodontics from 2009 to 2012; a Masters of Public Health from 2010 to 2013; and a Masters of Health Administration from 2013 to 2014. His education abroad includes the University of North Carolina with Prof. William R. Proffit, Former Chair of Orthodontics, in Chapel Hill, USA, in 2009; Erasmus at the Faculty of Medicine at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Gemelli University Hospital in Rome, Italy, in 2005.
From 1998 to 2003, he was a web coordinator for the British Council, Bratislava. From 2004 to 2005, he worked in new digital technology implementation at the Academic Library of the Medical Faculty at Comenius University. He has been a leading orthodontist at the clinic Sangre Azul since 2013 and a professor since 2006. His research interests have included 3D medical printing, bioprinting, artificial intelligence, orthodontics, forensic dentistry, and regenerative medicine.
