Dr. Javier De Miguel-Díez is an University Professor at the Department of Medicine, Complutense University of Madrid. He is also Head of the Pulmonology Section at the Gregorio Marañón General University Hospital. His research interests include COPD, asthma, pneumonia, interstitial lung diseases and pulmonary circulation. Dr. Alberto Fernández-Villar is the Head of the Pulmonology Service. He is a Doctor in medicine. At the same time, he is an Associate Professor of Medicine at USC, and a coordinator of the Neumovigo R&I group, at Galicia Sur Biomedical Research Institute. In parallel with his care and management tasks, he develops intense scientific activity focused on translational research, and the promotion of innovation and teaching projects. COPD is, along with lung cancer, one of his fields of special attention. He is the author of numerous publications of various types and clinical practice guides, as well as presentations at scientific meetings. He has directed a significant number of research and innovation projects and teaching activities, several doctoral theses in the field of respiratory diseases, receiving more than thirty regional and national distinctions and awards.
