Author Biographies

Geoffrey D. Barnes is a cardiologist and vascular medicine specialist at the University of Michigan Health System. He completed his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at Washington University in St. Louis (2003), followed by attending medical school at the University of Michigan (2007). He then completed an internal medicine residency (2010), a chief residency in internal medicine (2011), a cardiology fellowship (2014), and a vascular medicine fellowship (2014) at the University of Michigan. His areas of research interest include anticoagulation, venous thromboembolism, quality improvement, and shared decision-making.
Nghi B. Ha is a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist at the University of Michigan Health System and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Genetics from the University of California, Davis. After graduating, he spent three years conducting clinical research, specializing in the epidemiology and treatment of hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and hepatocellular carcinoma in Asian American patients, while concurrently earning a Master of Public Health degree. Ha graduated from the University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2014 and completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Michigan Health Systems. His professional and academic interests include cardiology, anticoagulation in special populations, health disparities, and the evaluation of pharmacists’ impact on improving patient care.
Aroosa Malik is a Clinical Instructor at the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Frankel Cardiovascular Center, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, USA. She graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2020 and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Michigan in 2023. She holds the American Board of Internal Medicine and MI State Medical License.
