Daniela R. de Figueiredo is a researcher at CESAM (Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies) and Department of Biology, University of Aveiro (Portugal). After a post graduation in Applied Ecology and a master degree in Molecular Microbiology, she concluded her PhD in Biology in 2010, followed by a post-doc on the ecology of cyanobacterial blooms. She started under an ecotoxicological context and then integrated molecular biology approaches to study cyanobacterial blooms, trying to go further in intra-specific variations concerning bloom-forming cyanobacteria. Simultaneously, over the past two decades, she has been also involved in several science communication/environmental education activities and citizen science projects, which have further strengthened her interest in these areas. Presently, she tries to make the bridge between the scientific research and science communication.
