Leonardo Fernandes Geres graduated in pharmacy from
Universidade Paulista (Campinas, Swift Campus). He interned at the Judicial
Pharmacy of Campinas at the Health Warehouse of Campinas and at the Hyper
popular pharmacy (Parque Dom Pedro II) and has experience in the area of
pharmacy in logistics and pharmaceutical assistance. He carried out scientific
initiation at the Tropical Diseases Laboratory (LDT) at the State University
of Campinas (UNICAMP), implementing and standardizing the cultivation of Acanthamoeba
castellanii in the laboratory. He is currently studying a master's degree
in the postgraduate program of Animal Biology—Anthropic Relations, Environment
and Parasitology at UNICAMP and has experience in the laboratory area of
parasitology with an emphasis on Acanthamoeba castellanii and Leishmania
amazonensis, mainly on the topics cell culture, in vitro (Microorganism Interaction
System), in vivo (analysis of the lesion of mice infected with Leishmaniasis
and maintenance of the Leishmaniasis cycle) assays, isolation and cultivation
of Leishmania spp. drug screening with MTT, detection of Leishmaniasis
by PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction), and Optical,
Fluorescence and Electron Microscopy. He holds a scholarship for
the teaching internship project (PED) at UNICAMP for the Animal Parasitology
discipline (BP582) and is supported by the Coordination for the Improvement of
Higher Education Personnel (CAPES).
Danilo Ciccone Miguel is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Animal Biology Institute, University of Campinas (Brazil). He teaches Parasitology and Biology of Parasite–Host Interactions for graduate and undergraduate students. He completed his Ph.D. in Parasitology at the University of Sao Paulo and also served as a Post-Doctoral researcher at the University of Maryland. His main interest in basic science is focused on understanding the mechanisms that allow Leishmania to survive in the intracellular environment.
Selma Giorgio is an Assistant Professor at the Department of
Animal Biology Institute, University Estadual of Campinas (Brazil). She completed
her M.Sc. in Immunology at the University of São Paulo and her Ph.D at the
Federal University of São Paulo. She has experience in the area of
Parasitology, with an emphasis on the Protozoology of Parasites, working mainly
on the following topics: Leishmania, macrophages, immunostimulators, hyperbaric
oxygenation, and hypoxia.
