Luciene B. Vieira received her Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, a Master’s degree and Ph.D. in
Biological Sciences (Biophysics, Physiology and Pharmacology) from UFMG, and a
Post-doctorate from the University of Calgary. She is currently an Associate
Professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. Her research interests
mainly focus on central mechanisms involving excitotoxicity in diseases such as
Alzheimer's and Huntington's, investigations of central mechanisms of action of
animal toxins, as well as mechanisms involving glutamatergic transmission in
the regulation of body weight and energy metabolism.
