Dr. Francisca Palomares has a Doctorate in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Miguel Hernandez University. Her Ph.D. was awarded with an Extraordinary Prize of Doctorate. After receiving her Ph.D., she carried out different international stays financed with highly competitive research contracts (FEBS, Canadian Institute for Health, Carlos III Health Institute, Roche Pharma and Andalusian Government). Currently, she is a Ramon y Cajal researcher and professor at the University of Sevilla, where she has led different research lines focused on the identification of biomarkers, therapeutic targets, metabolic regulation points, and innate signaling to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory diseases. Dr. Palomares´ research team investigates the role that nutraceuticals play in the context of inflammatory diseases with a special focus on immunomodulation in human dendritic cells and innate lymphoid cells. In addition, her research team develops innovative therapeutic tools and studies their immunological mechanisms of action in human and mouse models of inflammatory intestinal pathologies. Recently, her research team has opened a new reach line into the field of the molecular (innate immune signaling) and metabolic mechanisms involved in the mode of action of nutraceuticals in immune cells. She is a reviewer for national and international research projects and publications, as well as an associate editor for different international journals.
