Dr. Noélia Duarte is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Lisbon. She received her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Lisbon in 2008. In addition to teaching and supervising student activities, she has experience in research. Her teaching areas are instrumental methods of analysis, natural-product chemistry, and the structural identification of organic compounds. She has expertise in several chromatographic, spectroscopic, and spectrometric techniques, such as HPLC and HPLC-MS, GC, UV, FTIR, and NMR. Her research has focused on the isolation and structural characterization of bioactive chemical scaffolds from plants using spectroscopic techniques, particularly the identification of compounds with antitumoral, antimicrobial, and antioxidant activities. In addition, she is interested in mass spectrometry studies (LC-ESI-MS/MS) which aim to identify and quantify various metabolites from plant extracts and biological samples.
