Tienush Rassaf is a Professor of Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Vascular Medicine. He serves as the Department Head and Chair of the Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine and the Medical Director of the West German Heart and Vascular Center, University Duisburg-Essen, Essen, Germany. He obtained his MD at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf in 2000. After completing his residency and attending the Department of Cardiology, Pulmonary Diseases, Vascular Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine, RWTH Aachen, the Division of Cardiology, Pulmonary Diseases, Vascular Medicine at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf, he joined the Division of Cardiology, Pulmonary Diseases, Vascular Medicine at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf in 2013 as Vice-Director. After his postdoctoral research fellowships in Düsseldorf, Louisiana, and Aachen, he served as the leader of the CardioBioTech Research group of the Department of Cardiology, Pulmonary Pulmonary Diseases, Vascular Medicine at RWTH Aachen. In 2010, he became a Heisenberg professor of the German Research Foundation (DFG) at the Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf. Since 2016, he has been the Department Head and Chair of the Department of Cardiology and Vascular Medicine and Medical Director of the West German Heart and Vascular Center Essen, University Duisburg-Essen. He focuses on interventional cardiology with a focus on coronary interventions, interventional valve therapy, and structural heart disease.
