Vanessa Machado received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from the ICBAS School of Medicine and Biomedicine Sciences, University of Porto. Since 2017, she has been a consultant for research and education at Egas Moniz—Cooperativa de Ensino Superior, CRL. Since 2021, she has been an Associate Editor of BMC Oral Health and Frontiers in Dental Medicine. Since 2021, she has been a collaborator member of the Global Burden of Disease. Her research focuses mainly on the mechanisms of the association between periodontal conditions and female infertility and the inflammatory processes and burden to systemic health from oral sources.
João Botelho is a professor in the Periodontology Department,Clinical Research Unit (CRU), Centro de Investigação Interdisciplinar EgasMoniz (CiiEM) at the Instituto Universitário Egas Moniz (IUEM). He completed his DDS in 2015 at Egas Moniz University, in Portugal, and obtained his PhD degree in Biomedical Sciences at the ICBAS School of Medicine and Biomedicine Sciences, University of Porto. He was a visiting researcher in the laboratory of Prof. Jacques Nör at Michigan University, USA. Since 2017, he has been a consultant for research and education at Egas Moniz—Cooperativa de Ensino Superior, CRL. Since 2021, he has been an Associate Editor of BMC Systematic Reviews and PLOS Global Public Health and a Review Editor of Frontiers in Dental Medicine. Since 2021, he has been a collaborator with the Global Burden of Disease. His research focuses mainly on the mechanisms of the association between oral health and systemic health, particularly periodontal diseases and the inflammatory process.
