Prof. Alina Woźniak works in the Department of Medical Biology and Biochemistry at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland. She pursued higher education from 1984 to 1989 at the Faculty of Biology and Earth Sciences at Nicolaus Copernicus University, earning a master's degree in biology. She obtained her Ph.D. in medical sciences in 1996. In 1989, during her fifth year of studies, she began her career in an independent scientific and technical position at the Department of Medical Biology at the Medical University of Bydgoszcz. Her career progressed as she served as an assistant (1994–1996), an adjunct (1996–2005), an assistant professor (2005–2012), and an associate professor at Nicolaus Copernicus University (2012–2015) before being appointed as a professor in 2015, a position she still holds. In 2011, she was named the head of the Department of Medical Biology, a role she continues to fulfill. In 2014, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded Prof. Woźniak the academic title of Professor of Medical Sciences. Her research primarily focuses on oxidative stress and indicators of the inflammatory process. She has received several team scientific awards: from the President of Bydgoszcz (2002, 2015), three times from the Marshal of Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship (2003, 2006, 2008), and from the Rector of Nicolaus Copernicus University (2005, 2016, 2021, 2022).
