Prof. Francisco Silveira Guimarães graduated in Medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1981), obtained a doctoral degree (1987) and full professorship (2007) in Pharmacology in the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirao Preto, University of Sao Paulo. He performed his postdoctoral studies at the University of Manchester, UK (1989–1990) under the supervision of Dr. JFW Deakin. He is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirao Preto, University of Sao Paulo. Dr. Guimarães has experience in the area of pharmacology with emphasis on neuropsychopharmacology. He has published more than 300 papers in journals of international impact, 22 book chapters and three books (co-authored). His research interests mainly include nitric oxide, anxiety, depression, glutamate, serotonin, cannabinoids and stress.
Dr. Sabrina Francesa Lisboa is an Assistant professor and Principal Investigator at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo. She received a degree in Biomedicine from the State University of Londrina in 2006, a Master’s and a Doctorate in Pharmacology from the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto—University of São Paulo (FMRP/USP) in 2008 and 2012, respectively. She also held a post-doctorate with FAPESP and PNPD grants in the Department of Pharmacology of FMRP/USP. She was a visiting researcher in 2015 with a BEPE/FAPESP scholarship at the Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research at Ohio State University (Columbus, OH, USA) in the area of neuropsychoimmunology. In addition, she was also a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich in the laboratory of Dr. Carsten T. Wotjak, having received assistance from Boheringer Ingelheim Fonds and the International Brais Research Organization for this. She was one of the 2018 laureates of the award “For Women in Science”, an initiative of L’Oreal in partnership with the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and UNESCO. She has experience in the field of pharmacology, investigating the involvement of the cannabinoid, glutamatergic, nitrérgicco and immunological systems and epigenetic mechanisms in behavioral and plastic responses induced by exposure to stress.
