Maha Al-Asmakh is currently the Head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the College of Health Sciences at Qatar University. She has a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences (with honors) from Qatar University and a master’s degree in human reproductive biology from Imperial College London. She received her doctorate from Karolinska University Medical Center in Stockholm, Sweden and is certified by the American Board of Cytopathology from the American Society of Clinical Pathology. She is currently an educator specializing in teaching courses on embryology and developmental biology at the College of Health Sciences. Her expertise in the field of research has also resulted in many scientific publications. She is a founding member of the Qatar Biomedical Sciences Association.
Haissam Abou-Saleh is an Associate Professor in the Department of
Biomedical Sciences at Qatar University. He obtained a Ph.D. in
Biomedical Sciences from the Université de Montréal-Canada (2009) and
pursued his postdoctoral training at Montreal Heart Institute-Canada and
Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar. His research interests include
nanomedicine, herbal medicine, and toxicological studies using cellular
and animal models. Other areas of interest include cancer biology,
thrombo-inflammatory reactions, hypertension, and vascular remodeling.
His experimental approaches include molecular and pharmacological tools
and clinically relevant animal models of cardiovascular diseases. He has
more than 33 articles in his name in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
