Dr. Lauren V. Albrecht is currently an Assistant
Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy
& Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of California Irvine. She
obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the University of California San
Diego. Then, she earned her Ph.D. at Northwestern University while studying the
molecular basis of genetic, skin, and heart diseases. Her scientific interests
are focused on the study of metabolism, protein methylation, lysosomes, Wnt
signaling, cancer, one-carbon metabolism, bone, and kidney. As an AP Giannini
fellow at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at UCLA, she studied
developmental biology and cancer cell metabolism. The Albrecht laboratory aims
to design and implement novel therapies for human diseases and cancer.
