Author Biographies

Mohammad Hajian Berenjestanaki is a Ph.D. researcher at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, focusing on the application of blockchain in e-voting systems. He holds a Master's degree in communications engineering from the University of Tehran and a Bachelor's degree in electrical and electronics engineering from the University of Mazandaran. His research interests include Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), Blockchain, Cybersecurity, and Machine Learning. Through his work and Ph.D. studies, he aims to contribute to the development of secure digital infrastructures, enhance the scalability and security of blockchain-based software systems, and emphasize his role in providing advancements in e-voting applications.
Hamid R. Barzegar is a researcher at the Free University of Bolzano-Bozen. He received a Ph.D. from Politecnico di Milano, Milan, Italy, where he focused on the 5G physical layer. His current research interests include Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), blockchain, cloud and edge computing, 5G core networks, IoT, and cryptocurrency.
Nabil El Ioini is an associate professor with a keen interest in software engineering, cloud computing, and blockchain technology. Previously, he was an assistant professor at the Free University of Bolzano/Bozen in Italy. His research interests lie in the areas of software engineering, cloud computing quality assessment, and software security. Currently, he is working on the design of conceptual architectures for managing Edge computing and IoT components. He is particularly focusing on designing architectural patterns that address Edge computing requirements in terms of scalability, orchestration, security, and privacy using some of the mainstream technologies, such as container and blockchain technologies.
Claus Pahl is a full professor at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, where he is the coordinator of the Software Engineering and Autonomous Systems (SEAS) group. His research interests include software engineering in service and cloud computing. He holds a Ph.D. in computing from the University of Dortmund and an M.Sc. from the University of Technology in Braunschweig.
