Prof. Stewart F. Graham is a neuroscientist and metabolomicist. He completed his B.Sc. in Biochemistry, M.Sc. in Bimolecular Structure and Function, and Ph.D. in Metabolomics at QUB between 2000 and 2009. During his post-doc training at QUB from 2009 to 2011, he focused on identifying diagnostic markers of food fraud using metabolomics while also conducting research on transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease, securing funding from the Alzheimer’s Research Trust UK (ARUK). From 2011 to 2014, he served as an ARUK fellow, conducting groundbreaking research on post-mortem human brains from Alzheimer’s disease patients using high-resolution metabolomics platforms. In 2014, he assumed the role of Director of Metabolomics Research at Beaumont Health. He was appointed Assistant Professor at OUWB in 2016 and was promoted to Associate Professor in July 2020. He has also held the inaugural positions of John and Marilyn Bishop Foundation Endowed Chair and Director of Alzheimer’s Disease Research at Corewell Health since September 2020. His research interests are focused on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s disease. His research is supported by various agencies, including the NIH, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the Michael J. Fox Foundation. His primary goals as a scientist are to identify early diagnostic biomarkers for neurodegenerative diseases and gain a deeper understanding of their underlying etiology and pathophysiology.
