Author Biographies

Reilly Pickard obtained his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Dalhousie in 2023, and is currently a Master's student at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Prof. Yuri Lawryshyn. Reilly's research is focused on using numerical methods to solve quantitative finance problems. Reilly's current work involves the use of deep reinforcement learning to price and hedge financial derivatives.
Yuri Lawryshyn completed his Ph.D. in Engineering at the University of Toronto specializing in numerical modeling, an MBA degree at the Richard Ivey Business School (UWO) and a Financial Engineering diploma at the Schulich School of Business (York U). After spending over 10 years in the industry, he joined the Centre for Management of Technology and Entrepreneurship (CMTE) at the Faculty of Applied Science Engineering at the University of Toronto. Since joining the CMTE, he has supervised over 150 projects, including topics related to financial modeling, trading, econometrics, customer analytics, operational risk, cyber security and FinTech. Professor Lawryshyn specializes in numerical modeling, financial modeling and real options analysis and has expanded his research scope to areas related to data science and machine learning. He has been listed as an inventor on several patents, has co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications and over 100 conference presentations and currently holds the Joseph C. Paradi Chair in Information Engineering at the university.
