Andrey V. Letarov is a Professor at Winogradsky Institute of
Microbiology, Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Moscow, Russia. His research
interests mainly focus on the Structure, functioning and adaptation of
bacteriophage adsorption apparatus; Bacteriophage ecology in natural symbiotic
and free-living high-density bacterial communities; Bacteriophage resistance
mechanisms in bacteria blocking phage adsorption and mechanisms used by phages
to overcome such resistance; Biological diversity of phages; and Structure of
microbial and viral communities in meromictic lakes and interactions of
bacteria and viruses in these communities.
