Einar Stefan Björnsson is a distinguished Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Iceland. He is also the Chief of Internal Medicine at the Landspitali University Hospital. Dr. Björnsson obtained his MD in Medicine from the University of Iceland in 1989 and his Ph.D. from the University of Gothenburg in 1994. He completed his post-doctoral research at Ann Arbor Michigan in 1997. In 2001, he was a Senior Registrar at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, UK. Dr. Bjornsson worked as a Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Gothenburg in 2006, and in 2016, he was appointed Professor and Chief of Internal Medicine at the Landspitali National University Hospital of Iceland. He has authored over 413 publications and has a total citation >38,000, with an h-index of 100 (Scopus).
