Wen Zhong is currently a Professor of the Department of Biosystems Engineering at the University of Manitoba. She completed her PhD studies at Donghua University in 2002. She has been focusing on the application of nanotechnology in biomaterials since she joined the University of Manitoba in 2005. Specifically, she conducts research on (1) multifunctional nanofibers for wound care and tissue engineering; (2) multifunctional hydrogels for biosensors; (3) nano-carriers for therapeutic agents; (4) transport in nanofibrous materials. Her research interests include nanofibers/nanoparticles for targeted drug delivery, functional nanofibers for biomedical end uses, trans-dermal drug delivery, transport behavior of fibrous/biomedical materials, and biodegradable polymers. Her research has been supported by NSERC and CFI. She has 117 publications with 4371 citations and an h-index of 36 (Scopus, 13 November 2023).
