Author Biographies

Tianze Pang joined the Climate Smart Lab at the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation in January 2022, as a PhD student in environmental sciences at the University of Prince Edward Island. Before this, he graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Master’s degree in Water Security in 2021, and from Ocean University of China with a Bachelor’s degree of Engineering in Geo-Information Science and Technology in 2020. He has a multidisciplinary background in marine geosciences, hydrology, and geomatics. Currently, he is focusing on the research of modeling and investigating the coastal erosion of Prince Edward Island. He has been a member of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering since January 2023.

Dr. Xiuquan Wang is an Associate Professor in the School of Climate Change and Adaptation at the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). He is also the Director of Climate Smart Lab in the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation. He has been elected as a member of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) College of New Scholars. He has served as the Associate Dean (Interim) in the School of Climate Change and Adaptation and is a core member leading the development of the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation at UPEI, which is a world-leading research and teaching cluster in climate change impacts and adaptation. Before joining UPEI, he worked as an Assistant Professor in the School of Geosciences at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, US. He has a multidisciplinary background in climate science, environmental science and engineering, GIS and remote sensing, water resources, computer science, statistics, and data science. His research is mainly focused on regional climate modeling, climate downscaling, hydrological modeling and flooding risk analysis, energy systems modeling under climate change, climate change impact assessment and adaptation studies, GIS, spatial modeling and analysis, big data analysis and visualization.
