Author Biographies

Loredana Marcu is currently a Professor of Medical Physics at the University of Oradea, Romania, and an Adjunct Professor at the UniSA Allied Health & Human Performance, University of South Australia. She received her Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the University of Adelaide, and her Master’s degree in Applied Physics from the West University of Timisoara, Romania. She is involved in several professional activities, being a co-chair of the Women in Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering Task Group within IUPESM, chair of the Women in Medical Physics Subcommittee within IOMP, and chair of the European Matters Committee within EFOMP. She is the recipient of the “Boyce Worthley Award 2006” given by the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine for her achievements in the areas of radiobiology and medical physics.
Mikaela Dell’Oro is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Australian Centre for Quantitative Imaging, the University of Western Australia. Her work focuses on developing and validating artificial intelligence models for treatment assessment of advanced cancer patients. She previously worked clinically as a Radiation Therapist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australia whilst completing her Ph.D. in Medical Radiation Science at the University of South Australia.
Eva Bezak has an MSc degree in Medical Physics (University of Adelaide) and a Ph.D. degree in Nuclear Physics (Australian National University). From 2006 until 2015 she was a Chief Physicist at the Royal Adelaide Hospital responsible for services provision to radiation oncology in South Australia, and has been a regular contributor to the Medical Radiation Program at the University of South Australia for several years. She was appointed a Professor at UniSA in 2015. She was recently a member of the Australian Academy of Science working party, developing a position paper on the Future of Accelerators in Australia. In June 2015 she was elected to the Administrative Council of the International Union of Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine, and was appointed to chair the Women in Physics and Biomedical Engineering Task Group. During 2009–2011 she was a member of the National Radiation Oncology Tripartite Committee (ANZCR, ACPSEM, AIR) developing standards and KPIs for the Radiation Oncology Quality Program, and also co-authored the Tripartite National Strategic Plan for Radiation Oncology 2012–2022. In 2010–2012 she was elected President of the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine, also serving as an Australian representative on the Asia-Pacific Federation of Medical Physics Council.
