Author Biographies

Dr Stephanie Baker is a computer systems engineer with multidisciplinary research interests. Her main research interest is the use of artificial intelligence to solve significant problems in areas from healthcare to environmental science. Much of her research to date has focused on healthcare, which has allowed her to make significant contributions to health monitoring and prognostic assessment. Dr Baker holds a Ph.D. in biomedical and software engineering, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Systems) with Class I Honours.

Dr. Yogavijayan Kandasamy works as a Senior Neonatal Paediatrician in a tertiary perinatal center in Townsville, Queensland. He graduated with a medical degree from the University of Malaya, Malaysia in 1995. He obtained a Masters degree in Clinical Epidemiology and a Ph.D. from the University of Newcastle, NSW. He has specialist registration in General Paediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine with the Medical Board of Australia and has received fellowships from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP), The Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) (FRCP) and The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (UK) (FRCPCH). He is an Adjunct Professor with James Cook University's Medical School and a Conjoint Research Fellow with the University of Newcastle. His area of research is in neonatal medicine, specifically the effects of prematurity on the development of the kidney and retina, and neonatal health in indigenous babies. He is a reviewer for NHMRC Grants. He also serves as an advisor for the Queensland Neonatal Advisory Group and Paediatric Research Committee for the RACP and internationally for the European Research Agency in Brussels, Belgium. He also reviews grants for the British Eye Research Foundation, The Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR), and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (ZonMW).
