Brent L. Nielsen received a B.S. in Microbiology from Brigham Young University (1980), a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Oregon State University (1985), and a Post-Doctorate in Molecular Biology from the University of California, Irvine (1988). He is currently a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Biology at Brigham Young University. He has been a full member of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology since 1991. He was a member of the Faculty Development Committee, the College Rank & Status Committee, and the University Awards Committee at Brigham Young University. He is an Associate Editor of Plants and the Emirates Journal of Food & Agriculture.
