Sergio Viafara is a Dentist, Master in Basic Biomedical Sciences, and PhD candidate in Biomedicine with a solid profile in academia and research for the management of problems that affect the health of the population not only from the clinical position but also from a strong biomedical research perspective. Throughout his academic training, he has developed skills to promote critical thinking in basic and applied science. Moreover, Sergio has experience in the management of cell culture, cellular and molecular biology techniques, and the physical, chemical, and electrical characterization of biomaterials. He also promotes teamwork, leadership, proactivity, responsibility, and professional ethics. He is currently working at Universidad de los Andes (Chile) as a PhD(c). His research is focused on applications of smart biomaterials for tissue engineering applications.
Muhammad Saad Khan has a PhD in Bio-Engineering from the School of Integrative Engineering, Chung-Ang University, Seoul. He is currently working as a Postdoc fellow at Toronto Metropolitan University (previously Ryerson University). His research is focused on applications of nanobubbles for imaging and antitumor drug delivery. He has a diverse background in research, teaching, and management in the fields of biomedical engineering and healthcare management.
Ziyad S. Haidar is a Full Professor of Biomaterials, Nanotechnology, and Tissue Engineering and the Scientific Director of Facultad de Odontología, Universidad de los Andes (UAndes), Santiago, Chile. He is an Oral and Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgeon with a Ph.D. in Nano-Biomaterials, Pharmaceuticals, and BioEngineering from McGill University, QC, Canada. He completed a post-doctoral training residency at the Montréal Shriners Hospital, MUHC, Montréal, QC, Canada. He is the Founder and Head of the Biomaterials, Pharmaceutical Delivery, and Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Bio-Engineering Laboratory/Research Group (BioMAT'X I+D+i Chile-HAiDAR R&D&I Chile), Head of Innovation at Centro de Investigación e Innovación Biomédica (CiiB), and a Faculty Member in the Dental Sciences and BioMedicine doctoral/PhD programs at the Facultad de Odontología and Facultad de Medicina, UAndes, respectively. He is also a visiting professor at several institutions, including the Division of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO), Temuco, Chile, and the Department of Chemical Engineering, Polytechnique Montréal, Université de Montréal, Montréal, QC, Canada. His research interests include patient-oriented design, development, characterization, optimization, evaluation and translation of bio-nanotechnology, bio-polymers, bio-ceramics, medical devices and drug delivery systems for the repair, restoration, reconstruction, and regeneration of challenging craniofacial and orthopedic defects.
