Author Biographies

Aman Srivastava is a Teaching Assistant at the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (the biggest MOOC platform in the world) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) (2021–Present). He obtained his Master’s degree in Technology and Development from the Centre for Technology Alternatives for Rural Areas (CTARA) of IIT Bombay. After his ‘Research in Development Fellow’ position with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited fellowship (2018–2020) in association with CTARA-IIT Bombay, he joined the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India (2020–2021) as a Research Associate in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), which is the largest running rural employment scheme across the world. He was primarily involved in developing sustainable solutions in convergence with MGNREGS works to address the water scarcity issues in semi-arid regions across rural India. His research interests include developing adaptation and mitigation measures for climate change, water accounting and budgeting, water resources system analysis, rainwater harvesting, and watershed management, with a primary focus on achieving climate change resilience across the drylands of India. He has published >35 research papers across journals of repute, as book chapters, and as conference papers. He has been honored twice with the prestigious ‘Institute Medal Award’ for his exceptional academic achievements: in 2018—his Bachelor’s degree and in 2020—his Master’s degree.
Rajib Maity is a Professor and AK Singh Chair faculty in the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. His research area includes Hydroclimatology, Climate Change Impact on Water Resources, Analysis of Hydroclimatic Extremes, Sea Level Rise, Remote Sensing Applications in Hydrology, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications in hydroclimatology. Recently, he became a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society, UK. He was also conferred with AK Singh Chair Faculty by IIT Kharagpur. Some of his other professional recognitions include Humboldt Fellowship (Experienced Researchers, Germany), James Rennell MoES Young Fellow (MoES, GoI) Faculty Excellence Award (IIT Kharagpur), Prof. R. J. Garde Research Award, Emerging Leaders Fellowship (Australia), BOYSCAST Fellowship, IEI Young Engineers Award, DAAD Fellowship (Germany), International ICE WaRM Fellowship (Australia), Prof. N. S. Govinda Rao Memorial Medal from Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.Prof. Maity also serves as associate editor of Scientific Reports (by Nature), Journal of Hydrologic Engineering (by ASCE), and the ISH Journal of Hydraulic Engineering (by Taylor and Francis). Earlier, he also served as associate editor of the Journal of Earth System Sciences (by Springer) for six years.
