Kevin S. Tang graduated from Brown University in 2017 with a
BA in Biology as part of the 8-year combined baccalaureate–MD Program in
Liberal Medical Education, continuing directly as an MD student at the Warren
Alpert Medical School of Brown University. During medical school, he led
multiple interest groups while serving in leadership positions for national
student advocacy organizations including the American Medical Association and
the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association, working to advance
policy initiatives towards improving Asian American health and equity. Between
his third and fourth years of medical school, Kevin took a gap year to pursue a
Master of Management Science in Global Affairs from Tsinghua University in
Beijing as part of the Schwarzman Scholars Program, graduating in June 2021. He
currently serves as an Internal Medicine Residency at UC Irvine. He has
published in several peer-reviewed journals and has a diverse set of research
interests, including medical education, health policy, and health technology.
Ailin Barseghian is a board-certified UCI Health
cardiologist who specializes in interventional and integrative approaches to
heart disease. Her clinical interests include women’s heart health, preventive
cardiology cardiovascular imaging, and pharmacology. She earned her medical
degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, N.Y. She completed an
internal medicine residency and cardiovascular disease fellowship at UCI
Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Lenox
Hill Heart and Vascular Institute in New York City. Her research interests
include interventional and preventive cardiology, cardiovascular imaging, and
cardiovascular pharmacology. She is the author or co-author of numerous
articles published in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Nathan D. Wong is a cardiovascular epidemiologist, specialist in preventive cardiology, and Professor and Director, Heart Disease Prevention Program, Division of Cardiology at the University of California, Irvine with joint appointments in epidemiology at UC Irvine and UCLA. He holds MPH and PhD degrees in epidemiology from Yale University and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and National Lipid Association (NLA) and a master of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology (ASPC). He is a past president of the ASPC, Pacific Lipid Association chapter of the NLA, and InterAmerican Heart Foundation. His research interests include subclinical atherosclerosis and the epidemiology and management of dyslipidemia, diabetes, and obesity in relation to cardiovascular disease. He has been an investigator with the Framingham Heart Study, Women’s Health Initiative, and Multiethnic Study of Atherosclerosis. He has authored over 400 papers and co-edited 7 textbooks and is on the editorial board of several cardiology- and diabetes-related journals, including being the co-editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology, guest editor-in-chief of JACC Asia, and cardiovascular medicine editor-in-chief of the Journal of Clinical Medicine. He is a recipient of the ASPC Joseph Stokes Award for Lifetime Achievement in Preventive Cardiology and the Lifetime Achievement Award in Clinical Research from the UC Irvine School of Medicine.
