Michael AtzmonĀ is Professor Emeritus of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences and a Professor Emeritus of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Michigan. He completed his B.Sc. in Physics & Mathematics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1980, his M.S. in Applied Physics at the California Institute of Technology in 1982, and his Ph.D. in Applied Physics at the California Institute of Technology in 1985. He was By-Fellow at Churchill College, University of Cambridge. His research focuses on phase transformation and material synthesis far from equilibrium, the thermodynamics and kinetics of phase transformations far from equilibrium, the mechanical behavior of amorphous and nanocrystalline metal alloys, and mechanochemistry and powder processing via mechanical attrition. He has 68 archival journal papers with 4253 citations and an h-index of 36 (Google, 20 Sep. 2023).
